Day 10
The Welcome Prayer
This poem was given to me by my mother. It used to hang on the wall by the kitchen door when I was growing up. Although originally it was a Christian prayer, I have customised the ending to keep it open to people of all or no faith. I often use this to welcome students to a workshop or class. But it’s not just about welcoming people, it’s about accepting all things, experiences and all parts of ourselves with grace and kindness.
Patience
Patience by Lao Tzu ( 4th Century Chinese philosopher)
It takes great courage and strength to just sit and be with the chaos and look for a clear path ahead. This poem by Lao Tzu, the father of Taoism, encourages us to take the time to see clearly before acting.
